Pennertz’s Combine for Win and Save

The Hawks scored one run in the first and three in the fourth last Wednesday, but failed to score the rest of the game.  They wouldn’t need to, however, as they were able to hold off a late inning attack by the Kings to win 4-3.

Matthew Pennertz started the game for the Hawks and pitched four innings before giving way to Dan Berg.  After two innings, his brother Darrin pitched one inning, then Brandon Moehrle, who is back with the Hawks after two years off, pitched the eighth inning.  Finally in the ninth, Gordy Pennertz, at 52 years old, still on the roster but “retired” for two seasons, pitched the ninth for the save.  Offensively, Matthew Pennertz and Dan Hansen each had doubles in the third inning as part of the three-run inning.
